Community Development Block Grant

The The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that provides non-profit agencies and other city departments with resources to implement services that benefit low- and moderate-income persons, resolve slum and blight concerns, or addresses community development needs. The City of San Jose’s Department of Housing is the administrator of the federally-funded CDBG Program. The CDBG Applications are generally accepted during the month of December; the allocation of CDBG funds is recommended by the Housing & Community Development Advisory Commission and is determined by the City of San Jose City Council. For more information regarding the CDBG program, please contact the CDBG Program at 408.793.5520 or by email at CDBG@sanjoseca.gov.
