Homeless Services

Homelessness is a multi-faceted regional problem that requires the cooperation and coordination of multiple cities, counties, nonprofit shelter providers, nonprofit service providers, and other agencies. The City of San Jose works with all of its partners to offer a comprehensive array of homeless services ranging from homelessness prevention counseling to a system of homeless shelters, transitional and permanent housing.

The City anticipates receiving approximately $10 Million in CDBG funding (maximum 15% available for public service), $460,000 in ESG funding, and $715,000 in HOPWA funding. Federal Grant Program Funding is available to nonprofit agencies who offer services that benefit low-and moderate-income persons. Eligible applicants must have a 501(c) (3) nonprofit status. Minimum grant amount for each project is $25,000.
