Request for Proposals for Property Management Services

The City of San Jose Housing Department is seeking proposals from firms interested in providing property management services both for a four-unit (plus manager unit) Disaster Relief Shelter (The Haven) and adjacent triplex housing development located at 937-943 Locust Street.

Inclusionary Housing Study Documents -- What is Inclusionary Housing?

The Inclusionary Housing Study is a public process in evaluating the potential for a citywide inclusionary housing policy. The study was facilitated and completed by the City’s consultant, David Rosen and Associates. The public process and review of inclusionary housing is a collaboration between City Departments, for-profit and non-profit developers, community organizations, and residents of San Jose.

The City anticipates receiving approximately $10 Million in CDBG funding (maximum 15% available for public service), $460,000 in ESG funding, and $715,000 in HOPWA funding.

Federal Grant Program Funding is available to nonprofit agencies who offer services that benefit low-and moderate-income persons. Eligible applicants must have a 501(c) (3) nonprofit status. Minimum grant amount for each project is $25,000.

$20,000,000 Notice of Funding Availability for New Construction of Affordable Multifamily Projects for Families, SROs, and Special Needs

Funding is currently available for the funding of acquisition and rehabilitation of affordable multifamily rental properties in San Jose On March 5, 2007, the Director of Housing announced the availability of $20,000,000 in construction and permanent funding available from the City of San Jose for the purpose of financing the development of Affordable Multifamily Rental Housing for families, SROs, and special needs.

Land Acquisition Loans Available for Affordable Rental Housing Projects

On January 10, 2007, the Director of Housing announced a new Land Acquisition Loan product, available to developers of proposed, new-construction, multifamily rental housing projects.

"Backyard Cottage" Pilot Runs through December 2006

From now through the end of this year, you may be eligible to build an attached or detached residential living unit - called a secondary unit - on your property. The City's Secondary Unit Pilot Program also enables those who meet the criteria to legalize an existing unit on their property.
