Community Development Block Grant
The
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) that provides non-profit agencies and other city departments with resources to implement
services that benefit low- and moderate-income persons, resolve slum and blight concerns, or addresses
community development needs. The City of San Jose’s Department of Housing is the administrator of the
federally-funded CDBG Program. The CDBG Applications are generally accepted during the month of December;
the allocation of CDBG funds is recommended by the Housing
& Community Development Advisory Commission and is determined by the City of San Jose City Council.

For FY 2008-09, the City anticipates receiving $10 Million in CDBG funding. A maximum of 15% will be awarded to non-profit agencies providing public services that offer services that benefit low- and moderate-income persons. Eligible applicants must have a 501(c) (3) non-profit status. Minimum grant amount for each project is $25,000. Notice of Funding Availibilty for more information
