Housing Rehabilitation Programs

The Department of Housing offers several programs to allow qualified applicants to make repairs to their homes or rental property. A brief description of each program is provided below. To determine if you may be eligible for one of the City's home repair programs, please refer the Eligibility Criteria.

GRANT PROGRAMS

Accessibility Improvement - The program provides technical and financial assistance to very low-income owner-occupied households with permanent disabilities. Improvements under the Accessibility Grant are intended to enhance mobility and access to the homes of individuals with disabilities.
Emergency and Minor Repair - The program provides technical and financial assistance to correct immediate threats to life, health and/or property for lower-income, owner-occupied households.
Home Repair - The program provides technical and financial assistance to lower-income, owner-occupied property owners to correct vital and immediate threats to life, health and/or property.
Mobilehome Repair - The program provides technical and financial assistance to very-low income, owner-occupied mobilehome owners to correct vital and immediate threats to life, health and/or property.

LOAN PROGRAMS

Housing Preservation Program - A loan amount up to $150,000 for property owners to achieve decent, safe and sanitary living conditions to single-family or duplex properties located in the City of San José.

Zero Percent Interest Loan Program - A loan between the amount of $15,000-$40,000 at 0% interest for property owners to achieve decent, safe and sanitary living conditions to single-family or duplex properties located in the City of San José.
